At B2L, our mission is to support families with children on the autism spectrum by nurturing a love for learning and empowering children with the essential skills to thrive in all areas of life. We focus on a child-centred approach, recognising each child’s unique strengths, interests, and areas for growth.

Our approach emphasises the importance of play as a vital tool for learning, allowing children to engage in meaningful experiences that stimulate their creativity, problem-solving skills, and social interactions, ultimately fostering their growth and development.

We work on all skills across various domains, with a particular focus on teaching children how to learn. We use evidence-based practices alongside a common sense approach to ensure that our methods are both scientifically validated and practical.

We are passionate about collaborating with kindergartens, schools, and all allied health professionals, integrating a multidisciplinary approach to provide comprehensive support tailored to each child's needs.

About Kirsten

Since starting my career in 1997, I’ve had the privilege of supporting families and working with wonderful children across Australia, the UK, and the US. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with incredibly dedicated parents and outstanding professionals in diverse settings, including kindergartens, schools, and autism-specific centres.

In 2012, I founded B2L, and I’ve been able to build a community on the Gold Coast while supporting families in Brisbane and various Queensland regional communities. The families I have worked with over the years would probably describe me as caring, a good advocate for their children, a good teacher, patient, practical, fun, silly, and a good problem solver. I love a challenge, and while I enjoy playing and being silly, I also value calm and quiet time. I believe it’s important for all families to have some quiet moments in their day.

I always say that I love my job so much, but if I had to choose another career, I’d be a Wiggle or on Playschool! I was born to make kids smile, play with them, and teach them to love learning and engage with others. I may have missed my Playschool window, but I get to sing, act, teach, smile, giggle and have fun with children and their families every day. I am pretty lucky !! 😊

Early Intervention

Why is early intervention important?

I want to emphasise the crucial importance of early intervention for your child. Research consistently shows that starting intervention as soon as possible can lead to significant improvements in your child’s development and quality of life. Here's why it's essential to start now:

Benefits of Early Intervention

  1. Maximising Developmental Potential: Early intervention can take advantage of your child's developing brain, making it easier to learn and acquire new skills.

  2. Reducing Problematic Behaviours: Starting early helps to address and reduce problematic behaviours before they become more established.

  3. Building Essential Skills: Early support can help your child develop critical skills in communication, social interaction, and daily living, which are foundational for their future success.

Finding the Right People

Image shows a paper cut out of a family hand in hand and held in someone's hands

It's important to work with professionals who understand and can meet your child's unique needs. Sometimes you don’t find the right fit straight away but it is important to keep looking until you find the best team possible. A team could include, but is not limited to the following specialists  -

  1.  Behavioural Specialists

  2.  Speech and Language Therapists

  3.  Occupational Therapists

  4.  Physiotherapists

Taking Action

Take the first step today towards supporting your child's development:

  1. Contact Us: Fill in the enquiry form and let us know a little about your child's and family's goals. We'll then set up a phone call to discuss how we can best support you.

  2. Educate Yourself: Learn about the different types of interventions and what might work best for your child. This step is ongoing. The more you educate yourself, the better advocate and support you can be for your child in achieving their goals.

  3. Stay Involved: Actively participate in your child’s intervention plan. Work closely with the different therapists on your team. Learn from them and help them learn from you. Ask for homework and work on those goals, then play play play with those goals.

Starting early intervention is one of the best things you can do for your child. It’s a journey that requires commitment, but with our support and expertise, you’ll see your child make incredible strides. Let's work together to give your child the best possible start.
